Well, I'm getting ready to part my car out, I've luckily talked to my town's high school auto shop (graduated last year so I know the teacher) so I have a place to work on the car that wont get in the way of the body shop's ability to work. Anyway, I've been told by the members here to grab the whole front suspension and K-frame and anything else I can from the front, my question is this: If I pull the front end and maybe the rear axle, will the tow truck driver be able to load the thing onto the wrecker? It would either be a wheel lift type truck, or a flatbed. I want to make this as easy as possible for the body shop since they are doing all of this for free, but on the other hand I want to grab as much as possible off the car. Could I put it on the 4 wheel dolly carts and get it out into the parking lot and have it loaded from there? What about complications from structural weakness from removing the K frame? Or is it not a problem? I just want to get this all figured out before I start working on it, so I know what all I'm grabbing before I even start. Thanks, Seth |

If they pick it up with a rollback there shouldn't be much of a problem since they will winch it on anyway. A regular hook will have some issues unless they have dollies on board. Got a torch? Grab everything you want and cut it in pieces small enough to haul off in a pickup.

 I will have access to an Oxyacetylene torch  Maybe I will just hack the shell up into little pieces, its a thought. I will stop by the body shop Thursday and see what they want left on to move the car, if anything. I would still like ideas on how to move this thing if its got no tires.

Heavy duty casters(think industrial garbage cans) welded to the sub frame front and rear. |

My buddy in Turner grabbed the completly stripped body of my '67 off the jack stands with his flat bed. No problem there. Wrecker and tow dollys will be a no way.... -D.Idiot |

I'll second or third that a flatbed wrecker will winch it up without wheels. But cutting it up and getting the scrap money yourself is way more fun. And all I have is a saw-z-all...  That's the whole body of a '70 Dart except the front clip and maybe doors. |

Just cut it up! I put an entire 78 furyII wagon less engine, trans, rear end, front suspension in a pickup bed trailer. every thing was small enough for one person to load by hand. It can be fun cutting a car up! Nuttyprof |

The biggest problem with the pickup truck idea is that my family's f-250 (99 superduty) is a short box with stacks, basically making it a 5 foot box. I'll figure out what I'm doing tomorrow. |

I don't remember where in the great state of Oregon you are? Is Ross close enough to come lend you a hand/truck? I know it's always fun getting together with other Mopar guys and getting something done! There were three of us tearing apart that '70. Great memories! |

The problem here in Nongan's area is if he did that, the locals will pick up the pieces before he can turn around and not pay the $100...We are seeing another increase in metal theft in our area again (they are bold enough steal whole heat pump condensing units from houses during the dinner hour...)Nongan, if you have the car cut up I have a regular bed truck we can load it up and take it to a scrap place on a saturday morning, I also have a load of scrap i need to send to the yard as well (old axles, sinks, etc...), so we can do it all at once (I figure it's about a 80/20 arrangement weighed in your favor). Ok, I'll figure it out tomorrow and let you know DI, thanks for the offer, I'll probably take you up on it. Yes, theft is up in these parts, I'm outside of Salem, and the car theft has gone up exponentially in the last 8 years or so, hell, we almost had our hondas stolen while we were sitting down for dinner in 2005, and even though they didn't get the cars, they got the sound system and other easy to get parts from our cars, in broad daylight, they are getting more daring to make a quick buck. |

What’s the problem, the Dart is a compact car… If a Fury II wagon fits in an eight footer, the much shorter and narrower Dart should fit in one of those useless shorty beds. LOL

I can "slice" thru 8 -12 inches of open sheet metal with a single swing but it is a bit loud for the neighbors. DD |
