Post subject:  Gold ignition module ???'s

I recently got a gold mopar ignition module and I was wondering if its just a plug an play kind of thing or if I have to have a high performance coil or what?
Is it possible for it to be on a daily driver?
Its going on a 73 Duster with a 225 with the super six intake setup..
thanks for any input!

Would your car be a Gold Duster?

I had to ask.

The gold box is listed as "race only", and this thread contains the reason why: it's for short-duration intermittent use. Run it down the track and shut it off. Under constant on-the-street use it will overheat and quit, as it seems. Me, I have no direct experience with the gold box; I favour the HEI upgrade.

The Gold Box, if it's a real Direct Connection/Mopar Performance piece, is old school, low tech, race only. Lots of dwell and coil current, but not for street use. There are standard replacement ignition modules which look like the gold box so be sure of what you have. As Dan says go HEI. It's a better system and does not rely on the coil and a ballast resistor to passively control coil current.
