Thanks for the input on my cam selection. I brought the cam from my 62 225 to OCG and they told me it was a 170 and the con rods would hit it if installed in a 225. The cam is out of my 225 and it appears that is is original. Did the early motors use different rods, is this a fluke or something else? OCG can notch it for clearance, but if it is not necessary I will tell them not to. Should I notch, find a different core or have them grind it as it is? Thanks again! |

Sounds like you have one of the thicker shaft cams. No worry, the con rods will not hit it... grind away. DD |

Are all early cam the thicker shaft? Why the difference, application? Ken at OCG thought they were 170 only and said that most of his /6 cam cores are this style. Curious? Cheers! |

I have seen many thick 225 cams on the earlier ('63-down?) motors, so I think it was both engines, just an earlier year thing. Lou |
