Post subject: | Offy vs. Weiand 4bbl |
I have an offy and weiand 4bbl intake. I need to sell some parts to get my truck going. I am trying to decide which manifold might be better to use,and I am going to sell the other. My observations: The offy has a larger plenum area. The weiand is slightly taller and the runners are slightly bigger. Everything seems about the same. I had planned on running the weiand, and selling the offy...but I like the looks of the offy's plenum....I am curious to see if you guys think there might be an advantage to one or the other before I sell one of them. For my 87 D100 Eddy 500,hooker LT headers,HEI,and 4.56's stock engine otherwise. I do realize that if there is a diff. it will be very small, and will prob. not be noticeable in my application. |

If I had both I would use the Weiand just because there is less of them out there. |

That is exactly what swayed my decision. Even if im loosing out on a small% of hp/tq,its worth it for the coolness factor to me.

Post subject: | Weiand Manifold |
raPoM, I also picked up an old Weiand intake manifold for the SL6. I had it bead blasted and ceramic coated with a clear sealer. It will go on my updated "Torque and Mileage" block. I am hoping that the Weiand runners will provide better mixing and produce better low end torque over a Clifford or Offy. We will have to compare notes later this summer. Your truck build verses my car build. |

I have only seen one Weiand live and in person, and it was on a race car. Seemed to work fine as far as I could tell. Not seeing much real world love for the Hurricane stuff. |

Stan (hyper_pak) also has one, though im not sure if he plans on using it in the near future or not. |

My(hurricane) manifold had some pretty major core shift going on,and after replacing my clifford with it and spending a few weeks tuning it, I had had enough and sold it to a member here. It just did not seem to live up to the claims that AS makes. The clifford had it beat on low-mid-and top end.... I was very disappointed, especailly after shelling out 500 bux for it

only used an offy on the street and racing with everything from a 390cfm up to a 750dp cfm, runners are closer in length and bigger plenum + 2" spacer. have no complaints;no comparision either. |

It looks like the Hurricane has more equal length runners. Do the Clifford and Offy have distribution issues like a stock intake? I would really like to see dyno results. I sold my Offy because a 2bbl is all I need for now. I want to go turbo on the Duster hopefully EFI. |
