My Valiant coupe was set up to be my daily. Big disc brakes, upgraded suspension, blah blah blah...

Going to work on Tuesday morning in the fast lane people panic stopped in front of me. No problem slowing down for them, but the Valiant kind of slid to the right, not out of control, just kind skidded.

Then I got clipped by a big rig, which destroyed the frame and front end and spun me out.

I'm okay physically, luckily, but I'm super bummed about the car.

Couple pictures:

I'm looking for another Valiant coupe as I though it made an awesome economical daily.

Just thought I'd share. I have lots more pictures showing how the sheetmetal was torn off the cowl and the passenger side framerail pulled off the torsion bar crossmember, I just haven't gotten them uploaded into my personal website.

:( :( :(

I feel for you, I just lost my '74 after a roll over, it sucks, a lot. I hope you find another car that you want and don't settle for anything below your standards, something will come along that you will fall in love with. The members here will be a great support both money wise if you choose to sell parts off of it, and moral support, motivating you to move past it and get started on a new project. Its been almost a month since I rolled my car and this weekend I'm picking up a '70 2 door dart (would have had it sooner, but I had to get the cash together). Make sure you take it easy over the next couple days and if anything weird happens, see a doctor if possible.

Glad your ok,
Seth

Bummer. Sorry to hear about your Valiant, but at least you are OK.

HERE are some very reasonably priced Valiants in the Bay area. Wish I could see prices like those up where I live!

It is interesting to see how well the Valiant actually held up to being hit by a semi. About thirteen years ago I witnessed a collision between a semi and some little compact like a Geo Metro. The Geo was trying to merge onto the highway in front of the semi but the Geo was so small that the semi driver couldn't see it. The Geo didn't pull far enough in front of the semi and the semi's front bumper ended up hitting the Geo squarely in the driver's door. The semi didn't even slow down and just started dragging the Geo along. The lug nuts on the semi's right front tire began chewing through the metal on the rear quarter and ripped the rear bumper off. Eventually the semi stopped, but it was a frightening sight.

Your Valiant remained largely in one piece. Poor little Valiant, but at least it died doing its job of protecting the driver.

Look under Las Vegas craigs list autos and type in Valiant. There is a 69 2 door post if it is still there. Was 2 days ago.

I did put 2x3 tube through-the-floor subframe connectors into the car for handling purposes and it is interesting to note that from the torsion bar crossmember back the car is still pretty much square. Ahead of the firewall.... not so much.

Thanks for the link on Craigslist. Hopefully looking at a driver '69 Valiant coupe soon, I'm not really looking for another huge project, but anything low-buck usually is. :?

Bummer. Hopefully you'll get a couple bucks for it and can transfer the running gear.

I hate to hear of your misfortune. '67-'69 Valiants are my favorite slant six cars, sad to see another one gone. Good luck finding a replacement.

Here is a link to more pictures on my website:
Wreck of 1967 Plymouth Valiant

Take a peek, I was surprised how bad the damage was after I got the hood peeled off. Cracked bellhousing, mangled engine mount, shattered alternator. Crazy!

Makes me feel even luckier!!

Wow, that is quite a bit more than it looked like on the outside. Lots of energy dissipated there. And really too bad about your car - I like its look. But glad that you came out of it okay - you're very lucky!! Best of luck getting another Valiant.

Roger

Damn, that sucks. Loved the look of your V. My V100 also sports the weathered stock blue, primer, & surface rust patina that all the rat rod peeps are shooting for.

Granted this isn't a Valiant & you say you're not looking for another huge project, but being that this is an A body & after hearing the price I just had to share the link. The seller is located in Redding CA..looks like he made a spelling error.

My bud says he spoke w/ the seller & he'll take $700.
