| Post subject: | slant six harmonic balancer |
i have a 71 slant with a bad balancer, outer ring came off the hub on the crank. no experience with slants. no bolt in center of crank ( should there be ?) holding it on. 1st, how do you get it off? 2nd where can i get a good one? any help would be very much appreciated |

falcon global on ebay sells both the Romac SFI unit and also another aussie made unit that is a very nice peice... there on ebay under slant six, or slant 6 |

Use a steering wheel/balancer puller. You can get one at any parts store, some even loan them. No bolt is normal. Google Damper Doctor/Damper Dudes for rebuilt dampers. |

thanks guys, checked out the balancers , the aussie one sats it fits 60 tru 84. in 76 the slant got a cast crank will this one work on my 71?? how can it work on both?? |

If it's for a hot rod, the Aussie one looks pretty sharp. I have a nice SFI Damper. It weighs a ton compared to the OEM ones. Might actually have enough mass to dampen harmonics on the crank, but I doubt it. A '71 crank is forged. CJ |

Make sure it has multiple timing marks. The location of the mark/tab changed in the late '60's.
