380 open seem like a lot. Did you test the valve springs when they were new by any chance? Have you pulled a couple to test them

well new springs lose 15-20% within the first heat cycle so about 300 would be perfect...

but no when i installed the springs that was above my knowlodge of things to check lol...

gonna pull them tomorrow and check them... if they are bad i might just pull the head and mill some more for a better static... still trying to figure out to use seat to seat (7.45) or @.050 (8.37)

Any luck fixing the "cut out" problem you were having? Is this related to that?

yea the MSD box went in today, along with the rebuilt/recurved dizzy with blue streak cap (game up on rotor)... runs better but didn't help the miss...

i know the pump was on marks 11 second almost 100hp more drag car so the pump is fine...

not much left lol

How many years/miles on these springs? What are cam specs again? In my experience, it takes a long time for valve springs to fatigue. What are the symptoms?

I have had it happen to me once with a cheap set of 1.26" diam single 350 chev springs after about 50k miles on a MP 276 deg, 0.490" cam. Another time, I had about 40-50k on my 250 @ 0.050, 0.510" cam and the shop said the springs were weak but it would still rev well to 6000.

Hmmm,

Lou

300 lbs open should be plenty, I would think, for that cam. Only way to know is to test them, I guess. 12k miles should not be too much. I'll be interested to see what you find.
