Post subject:  Pcv hook up locations

Hey all I've gotta ford holley 2 barrel that doesn't have a pcv port on the carb itself and I was wondering is there somewhere else I could hook the hose to so I can run this carb? Could I just went to atmosphere like the 57 chevys and apparently 64 slants did? Thanks

All slant-6s had PCV starting in '63 ('62 in NY, '61 in CA). Drill and tap your intake manifold plenum for a PCV nipple. Do not use the vacuum tap on the rearmost runner or your #6 cylinder will run lean and burn, burn, burn.

Some 70's Fords used a plate between the manifold and the base plate of the carb that had a nipple. I had to do this recently since I installed a Holley 390 cfm 4 barrel on my "mint" duster...0-6299 is for Pinto 4 bangers...I used a 1/2" carb spacer with a 5/16" nipple....Pinto's equipped with the Holley clone of the weber used a similar setup.

FYI.

Yup, if you can spare the hood clearance, a plate such as DI mentions is an easier way to go (and if you can find one in phenolic, you can keep the carb cool at the same time!)

If no carb plate solution will work, and you're running a '73 or newer intake manifold (with EGR provisions), you can replace the EGR valve with a blockoff plate and simply drill and tap that to accept a pipethread-on-one-side, hosebarb-on-the-other brass fitting and run your PCV hose to it.

Duster Idiot : I knew about the plate since this carb came off my mothers Torino but this is for a blow thru setup and I don't think ill have the hood clearance once the carb hat is on even with a low profile hat. My father said he might still have that plate somewhere but it probably wont matter because of the aforementioned problem. I trying to figure out if there was a spot I could tap n run a hose to or something.

Dan: I knew about not hooking it up to the vacuum tree because of the lean condition. And yes I have a super six intake with the egr port blocked off. I was given the idea by someone else to hook it to a nipple on the block off plate but I wasn't sure if it would work or not. I guess as long aa its under the carb it should work. It will be a really long hose tho but if it works with the intake being pressurized then ill do just that.

So what would be the best PVC arrangement when running multiple carbs with an Offy 2X, Clifford 3XDCOE or Lynx/Cain/Redline 2X or 3X intake?

The Offy has a tapped port in the crossover pipe. With the other 2- or 3-carb intakes, you'd want to split the PCV hose into 2 or 3 and connect one to (or near) each carb.

There'll be no crankcase ventilation under boost no matter where you hook up the hose, so make sure you have ample flow capacity on the crankcase inlet (breather).
