Hey Dad, how's the progress?

My engine is still at the rebuilders. The block is still being reassembled. The head had been shaved about .100". Being hydraulic, custom push rods are being ordered from smith bros. Starting to think on this one, I would have been way ahead to just port a stock head. Any way, all the calls
Calcs lead to a nearly 9.5:1 compression ratio. because of this, I was going to order a custom thicker head gasket from cometic to bring the compression back down a hair. Cometic is not making gaskets for the slant.

I have the same oregon cam you ordered in the wings. What this is all about is that,i was wondering if you would run your program on the same configuration you did for yours but with a 9.1 and 9.5 ratios and let me know what you get. I'm a little worried about lagging in the hills. Thank you, Ray

I was delayed just a bit as I changed directions on the crankshaft, got the 'heavy' one back from the shop yesterday, magna fluxed good, so had it hot tanked and polished.

I should be able to get it in the case this weekend, I'll install the pistons as I want to r e check piston recession one more time, to get to the final number that the head will be milled.

when I ran the simulators with a small cam like we have and 9.25 compression, the cranking pressure was 180+,,, I am wanting to run regular gas, that was not going to happen with that kind of cranking pressure,, I am working towards a cranking pressure of the factory new spec + 10% to 12%,,

but honestly,, the simulators could have an error in them,, go ahead and try the 9.25,, if it does not work for you, then it is just a head gasket change to a thicker gasket. Just start with premium in the tank...and not much ignition advance...
That 's my plan,,if after it is built, there is more left, no pre ignition issues, I'll pull the head and have it cut again...

regards
DT
