| Post subject: | Backing Plate Plugs |
Now that I've replaced the rear axle in my 1965 Barracuda with one from a 1974 Duster (to get the LBP), there is a parking brake cable hole in each backing plate that should be plugged. The backing plates appear to be universal so that one plate will work on both sides. It's been a long while since I first pulled the new axle out of the Duster and I don't recall whether the holes were originally plugged. Maybe they got lost when I had the axle sandblasted. I leafed through my 1975 service manual (should be close to 1974) but didn't see a PN for this item. Any suggestions for the best way to plug these holes? |

We welded plugs in the ones for my Daytona. Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and look in their hardware thingies section. They usually have some snap-in plugs that may work. |

Perfectly standard cheap off-the-shelf universal part from Dorman/HELP or NAPA Balkamp. Visit your nearest (real) parts store. |

Wow, haven't used or worried about those ever. Don't drive my cars in snow anymore, though. Lou |
