I pulled motor/trans out of Marys 1969 dart parts car
these are the photos of the trans. it is marked 1971

can i run this trans in our 1968 dart
I think our motor is 1970 in our dart too.

If it is in fact a '71 trans it will bolt right together. :D

Yep. However, now is an ideal time for a fluid and filter change (ATF+4), band adjustment, shift kit install, and verification that it has part throttle kickdown.

how do you adjust the bands?

we have an old school transbrake reverse manual
need a deep pan/trans cooler.. 3/8's lines

thinking about a 3800 stall too

You pulled the trans and engine apart with the torque converter still bolted to the flex plate? So much for the pump bushing and seal.

Get a factory service manual and read the transmission section. It is very easy to do. However, I cannot say if the factory specifications and procedure will work with your aftermarket valve body. A more experienced racer needs to answer that question for you.

Is that an old Tranz-Act with the big can solenoid that screws into the neutral switch hole?

Do you have the little bent pin that goes between the solenoid and the valve body?

Do you have all the instructions for it? That is not a bolt-in and go valve body you know.

If you're not going to rebuild the trans do not put ATF+4 in it either.

Also, AFAIK if you have a non-stock ratio (like a 4.2 or 5.0:1) for the kickdown band lever, then you need a different "back the adjuster screw" count from the factory procedure. The service manual gives the basic idea of what to do for a stock trans.
