1975 Dart, 225 /6. After smelling gas but finding no leaks in the fuel lines, my oil warning light came on. I figured that the fuel pump may have failed, as it was very old. I installed a new mechanical pump and changed the oil/filter (was dirty anyway) , but the oil warning light remains lit. What is my next move? Is there a recommended oil pressure gauge that fits in the pressure warning sender socket? Could it be a failed oil pump? |

Service the oil pump's pressure releaf valve and then check oil pressure with a mechanical gauge... & go from there. DD |

Yep, it will be a good idea to service the oil pressure relief valve to make sure it's doing its job, as described in these two threads: thread 1, thread 2. It is possible the oil pressure sender has failed, or that the oil pressure sender wire has come off the sender and is grounding somewhere, which will turn on the light. |

Thanks Doug and thanks for the links Dan. I'll get to work and report back what I find out. |
