OK, little debate over on FABO about strut rod bushing washers. do they face in (like following the contour of the bushing) or do they go out (like away from the bushing)? Moparmuscle has 2 articles and they show them both ways! This FSM like pic shows them inward http://jholst.net/65-parts-manual/front-suspension.pdf and then the washers themselves have "this end toward rubber" right on them that would have them facing outward. What way is correct? Seems a guy lost a PST bushing and we are all piling on him because the washers are facing out, sort of opposite the way you would think they go as they dont follow the contour of the bushing itself and would seem to promote a splitting of the poly bushing...help!

The drawing in the FPC is only an exploded view for parts identification. With rubber bushings, the correct way is with the concave (dish) side facing front, away from the bushing. If you install it wrong way round, it binds the strut rod so it can't pivot the way it's supposed to be able to. Harshness and accelerated wear of other bushings results.

Does this hold true with polyurethane bushings? Is that even the right kind of washer to use with a polyurethane bushing? Who knows?

Thanks, Dan. Seems we have the logical crowd who see your way and the other 90% that have seen them installed wrong their emtire mopar lives. Why on earth wpuld they draw them like that in that pdf if that is ass backwards? Plenty of other sources are wrong too. Thanks for the vote.
