Lou and Sandy this is for you or anyone else who has experiance with mustang wheels on abodys. I am finally getting a chance to get the car back together. I just scored a sweet deal on some mustang cobra take offs. And the 8.8 is going to the machine shop next week for its surgery. Shortening it for 2 short shafts, and then they are going to be welding on the perches and shock mounts. My question is should I have the leaf perches move inboard to give alittle extra room for the tire and wheel? Tires are 245-45- 17s. And if so how much. This is going on a 64 valiant 2dr by the way. ![]() ![]()

Those tires *just* fit with a little rubbing in some extreme instances. Worse rubbing with rubber spring bushings and I run poly. Gotta get the spacing just right. At this point, I would definitely get them to weld the perches 1/2" inboard and order a 1/2" spring reloc kit from doctordiff.com. I am planning to do this on my '64 Dart. Good thinking!! You might have more trouble with the front on your 64 V due to the smaller wheel arches than the Dart. Let us know how you make out there. I did some trimming on the rear edge of the front lip of the wheel opening (hits on turning). Lou |

So far with out bolting anything up it looks like the fronts will need some clearancing to happen. I may get away with pulling the fwd lip out some. If not I might cut the fender and move the front lip forward and patch in the difference. |

Sounds like a good plan. I will probably stick with narrower tires (225s or 235s) on my new '64 Valiant. 225/50-16s on there now. Lou |

I was able to use 245s on the rear ,,,,,,,and 235s on the front, I had to rework the fender " corners" to clear on the front. |
