No, not the wrong brand. Wrong word. The brake slows the car. You want to break-in the engine. Brad Penn just happens to make a break-in oil and they say run it 500 miles. |

It's a large error to use heavy/thick oil (whatever brand) to break in the engine. You need an extra-light weight of oil for the purpose. |

I used Brad-Penn but changed it out after 100 miles. No issues. |

There are a number of "cam break-in" additives out there... I have been using the stuff from Comp Cams lately. DD |

The local mom and pop places calls this the "secret sauce"...It has moly in it so it's dark in color...I'm a bit put off by the other brand additive that says "zinc" but is clear liquid the viscosity of honey...Last time I worked with some zinc it was grey in color not clear... x2 for comp secret sauce -D.Idiot |

I bought a couple of cases of STP oil conditioner of some thing like that. It is a 30W with bunches of zinc. Quart sized, not the thick goo in the pints. They quit making it. I always run an engine 20-30 minutes for cam break in then drain, new filter and refill. 10-30 Rotella diesel oil will have all the zinc you need. Don't get the synthetic blend. Not until the engine is broke in. |

OK, now I am really confused. So what some of you are saying is that the zinc and phosphrus thing is a bunch of marking to sell a more expensive oil and that I should just run normal 30w. THE other half is telling me to us a " on " break in oil. Here is the thing in I am using my existing cam, for not so loved Clifford, So I have all ready broke or ran in the cam and lifters I am mainly worried about setting the rings and reducing blow by. And also I know that I can not spell you dont need to point it out lol. THanks |

When you reply, see that block in the bottom right hand corner that says "spellcheck"??? It will help to show that you have some intelligence and not a hill jack. Just sayin.

When I read this thread, I don't see what you seem to think you see. Perhaps you should read the thread more carefully.
