Post subject:  77 trademans 100 (helping afriend help a friend)

my friend pulled the tail shaft off of his 3 speed. by doing so the shafts inside the trans came apart and the roller bearings fell to the bottom of the trans these roller bearing were located in the front of the in side the 2/3 syncro <i believe> iany idea on how i may be able to put these back in?

Does the transmission have a top cover or a side cover?

Collect all the roller bearings, clean and coat them with the thickest grease you can find, then re-install them into the end of the front input shaft.
Re-set the syncro rings & "collar", on the input shaft side then install the mainshaft / tail shaft assembly into the case / input shaft.

how you get the rear shaft to come out as far in the picture? remove theshift forks?what type of time do you think it should take? a machine shop told me 2 hours to take the whole box apart. but by what i see in the pic it looks as though it should be less and maybe i can do it myself.

Yes.
Sounds like you need a FSM and a gasket set because this trans needs to come apart... before going back together.

what type of time do you think it should take? a machine shop told me 2 hours to take the whole box apart. but by what i see in the pic it looks as though it should be less and maybe i can do it myself.

IF they are going to take it apart and reassemble it, 2 hours isn't bad.
