Hello.

i have a a body valiant from 1965 whit a slant six ofcourse and a 904
but i dont like the gear ratio on the original 7.25 axle and it allso has begun to make some noise.

can i put in a 8.75 rear axle and from what car will be the closest fit?what gear ratio do you guys sugest?the combo is 225/904

and the 8.25 is not an option cos they are werry hard to find here where i live.

Thanx in advanse

There are many posts along this topic, you should do some searching.
It's complicated, but you *can* put most anything up under there you want.
It's just a matter of what you're going to use it for, and how much time and money do you want to spend.
Not much is just going to bolt right up, the older A bodies are more narrow than later years.
Why don't you like the original gear ratio?

An 8 3/4 out of another A Body will bolt right in. It will have the smal bolt pattern axles and you will have to shorten you driveline.
