just on the unlikely chance that anyone here is as big a KNUCKLE-HEAD as I am. You know those casting sand shake-out holes in your head...the ones adjacent to the valve guides for cylinders 2 and 5? The ones with with the inset, squares (approx. 9/16" across) in the tops? Thinking of removing those to give you extra access points from which to remove scale and casting wires from the coolant passages of your head, are you? Well...........DON'T! Not at least, if the ones in my head are at all typical. Did they put JB Weld on the threads of those suckers at the factory, or WHAT? Now mine are buggered and STILL completely frozen in the head, despite the application of every form of persuasion known to man. Removing those end manifold studs were a walk in the park compared to trying to break THESE things loose . Wish I'd never TOUCHED 'em! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I've seen plenty of heads with that square hole partly busted out, but still fine and useable. I've never even tried to get one out. Lou |
