| Post subject: | HEI wiring/Volt Regulator wiring question.... HELP |
I had an engine fire and I am starting from scratch. I have read and reread all the info on the HEI swap and I have everything ready to wire in. I am trying to figure out where to put the ignition 1 wire J2 dark blue wire and the blue field wire for the electronic voltage regulator and the ignition 2 wire J3 dark brown that goes to the coil. I am also wiring in a 4 pin relay, and in the article on this forum it shows J2a going to J2 wire which is the wire that goes volt regulator. What about the J3 wire that goes to the coil in a non HEI set up, where does it go? I don't have a ballast, and I have wires coming out of the bulkhead connector that I have to wire to the right components.. |

Here is a link to the HEI i did on my 86 Ram. 3rd link down is factory wire diagram. I dont know if it will help with your vehicle because i dont know what your vehicle is. Good luck. P.S. I also have links to a cheap source for terminal supplies online and wire online too. Their much cheaper then buying local. Dave |

Hey Dave, Where are you buying your terminals? I have used Waytek wire for a number of years. http://order.waytekwire.com They are much less than anyone local. The OEM terminals on our cars were Packard 56 connectors. I use a small precision screwdriver to release the old terminal from the plastic shell and reuse the original shells. They also carry the modern sealed Weatherpak connectors. Just thought I would throw this out there and maybe save folks a little money. Scott. |

Where is the link? I'd like to see what you did on your 86 as I'm getting ready to do my 87 D100.

Be careful with Waytek on small orders they have a minimum shipping or handling fee and it will eat up any savings if you are not careful. Rick |

I use part numbers from here http://www.pcsconnectors.com/delphi_terminals.aspx to get parts from here http://www.terminalsandconnectors.com/, becuase they dont have many picks on this site. Also ordered from here http://www.corsa-technic.com/ and here http://www.repairconnector.com/ I also bought my wire thru here http://www.motorsportswiring.com/. I used GXL wire but in the future will use TXL instead the difference is the TXL has thinner insulation. The hardest terminals to find were the newer Chrysler terminals and there is one chrysler female terminal that i still have not found its for 1/8" male terminal. Ford terminal is simalar but doesnt work. Dave |

64x2, for a better understanding, go to the Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ in the 'Electrical' section, and read ALL posts about HEI. Olaf |
