I'd say a 180-195, and yes..

"180-195" doesn't mean anything. That's two different thermostat temperatures.

180° is the correct and optimal choice. Preferably Stant SuperStat #45358. You can use a 195° thermostat, but it will tend to cause and/or aggravate hot-start/hot-idle issues -- this is the reality of running yesterday's car on today's gasoline. 160° or no thermostat at all is never the correct choice.

Post subject:  sorry to hijack thread, but...

if i am running a 195 because of simple ignorance, could that cause overheating at highway speed? just wondering if i tried to fix the problem with mine the wrong way.

I run 195s in my cars. It should not cause overheating on the hwy. Check that your gauge is not just reading high too.

Mileage will generally be better w/a 195, but as Dan said you can have hot starting issues.

Installed a 180 degree thermostat, the Stant Dan suggested. So far so good seems to operate better then the 160 degree.......again thanks for all the responses and help.
