Post subject:  Harmonic Balancer

I am in need of a new harmonic balancer in the very near future. The pulley is wobbling and the timing mark is way off. Hit up google and if needed I can buy a Romac but didn't want to spend 300+ dollars for a very stock 225 in my 66.

Any advice would be very appreciated because none of the local junk yards have anything for my old bucket.

Thanks in advance.

Robert

The more I read on this subject the more I go wow, I should just buy the known best product and deal with the cost. Now to open a can of worms and ask what would the guru's use for a 66 valiant with an auto, as far as I can tell every part of the car is original.

I am assuming that is what is called Chinese junk? I should rephrase that I didn't want to spend 300+ but if that's what is needed to buy quality I will.

That was just a replacement, I didnt scour the whole site to see if they listed any SFI rated balancers by the major mfgs.... I dont know a thing about the Romac balancer, but if it is a recommended part I would feel that its been thoroughly tested and rated...

Sorry communication error on my part there. I don't know what part is better to be honest. Was trying to get a consensus about what to use for a street driven car. Thanks for the link to the one on SR and if anyone knows if it's a good part and worth buying I would love to know.

Looks like a quality part for the money to me. Waiting for some other thoughts on this but so far looks good to me.

Will this balance work for a slant is with a three speed standard transmission? I am looking to replace my balancer and this looks like a good one at a reasonable price.......

Post subject:  If you need...

A Balancer for a stocker engine (actually I use one of the late model ones and haven't had it slip or come apart in 12 years):

Try these guys:

http://www.damperdoctor.com/Merchant2/m ... y_Code=CHR

They might be more economical...you can send them your balancer and they can refurbish it. (I might have a core balancer I could send them to refurbish for you for the shipping and a smaller core charge...)
