| Post subject: | Dutra duals head pipe question. |
I am getting a set of dutras that come with a set of 1 7/8" head pipes, I just had my single exhaust done as a 2.25" flange to tip, should I run the 1 7/8 to 2" to 2.25"? Or is there enough room in the engine bay to route another 2.25" pipe? On a budget, but I don't want to hack up my newish exhaust if I can spend a little more and get better flow. Also doing a super six upgrade with a Holley 2300. Thanks, Seth |

2" headpipes might be optimal, but 1-7/8" headpipes should be plenty adequate, used with a Y-collector conjoining them to a single 2ΒΌ" pipe to join up with the rest of your exhausting exist system. |

Just got off the phone with my exhaust shop, I'm going to leave the Y that is on the head pipes already and I'm going to take it into them and pay $3 to expand the 2" collector to 2.25", it was either that or 60 to get a new one fabbed up. |

Seth, I don't recall mentioning that there was a Y pipe on them, I apologize if I said that there was. I've been running them as true duals for quite awhile now with those lakeside pipes.I did have a Y-pipe at one time, but it was crappy, and I wanted more snarly noise from my car. Just thought you should know that before stamping plans into concrete. See you later today! ~THOR~ |

I remembered you having one in your videos, but its alright, I'll just grab one, I know where a couple are, I'll have to see the head pipes first, I may just fab one, I have all the tools to do it myself, I'm just not a great welder. You have manual steering though, don't you? That may throw another wrench in plans, I have power steering. Seth |

Those are old videos now.. glad someone watches them occasionally... Nope, my car has power steering... and a manual... it clears both of those, even with the small engine compartment... you should be fine. My suggestion would be to make a new front pipe. It works, but it needs work, and it would look tons better if you replaced it. You should be able to use it as a pattern at the very least. ~THOR~ |
