Ok, I have an 81 W150, 4 speed, low mount starter (V8 position), and I believe (don't know for sure) I have an 11 inch clutch. Now, can I just get a flywheel for the earlier crank hub? If so, what application do I use? I was always of the opinion that the low starter mount setup uses a larger diameter flywheel - but I don't know why. I've read it somewhere, made the assumption... don't know. I have an engine, but it's got the small hub on the crank, and I'd like to rebuild the shortblock and then swap it into my truck. Any input helpful. Thanks. |

Yes, you are looking for www.car-part.com for the "1963 Dodge Truck" D-100 with 225-6 4 speed... Any truck pre 1967 with the NP-235/435 4 speed will have your flywheel...sadly I had the bellhousing and flywheel out of a 1963 Dodge Truck 225/NP435 that would have fit your bill but I have sold both.Good Hunting. -D.Idiot |

Have access to a lathe? You could turn a ring to center your flywheel on the early crank. If I had more free time I could make some up, but my friend with the lathe lives about 45 minutes from me. |

Are you sure of this? Because there's more than one flywheel listed for my truck - based on clutch diameter. And no, I don't actually know what's in the truck now. And I thought the flywheels were different diameter for the starter location. Then again, I could be seriously confused here. |

Trucks with the NP435 got the larger clutch and flywheel with the low mount starter. '67 and earlier have the smaller center hole in the flywheel. |

ThanksGoogle helped me out, finally. There's a "definitive" thread here somewhere that I could not find searching using the search here, but I stumbled onto it using google. I appreciate everyone's input. Thanks! I have located 2 wrecking yards with flywheels that are not too far away / not expensive. I've also found the transmission I want to change to, as well. |
