I used the fel-pro gasket against being advised to use the better more expensive gasket which I can't remember. Anyone know that gasket?!aggresive Ted I seem to recall you mention this gasket! I fired up the supersix conversion for the first time since december and goddamn! Also I got the Carter BBD running perfect idle without the air filter. Then I put the air filter on and I can't get her to idle without pumping the gas. Should I tune the carburetor fuel adjustment lean or back with the air filter on? |

I seem to recall being over 2 turns out on the idle adjustment screws when I did the adjustment on the carb without the filter back in December. I'm just thinking maybe burning a bit rich at idle and the filter suffocates the fuel rich mixture? |

It is very much worth your while to get the good gaskets for the manifolds-to-head and intake-to-exhaust junctions. Carburetor mixture adjustments are best made with the air cleaner installed (and its vacuum hose hooked up correctly); if you can't get the car to run right with the air cleaner installed, then something's wrong. |
