Post subject:  Radiator questions

1972 B200 /6 NO A/C. My radiator was leaking, so i got it patched. it was good for about 3 days and started leaking from another spot. I wanted to replace it with a new one but see they cost 300+ and everytime i went to order from a distributor online they saidit was out of stock(no A/C model). All i can find is the radiator that accomodates a/c. Is there any way to make the radiator w/ A/C work? THANK YOU in advance you guys have helped me out a ton already

The "with A/C" radiator will work fine -- it is a higher-capacity/heavier-duty radiator than the "without A/C" item.

Is the leak on a tube or a header tank seam?

With copper/brass radiators, header tank seams are easy to resolder...........

at first it was just on a tube about 3 in up and an inch to the left of the outlet. then got it repaired, was good for a few days, then it started leaking pretty much right above the outlet and also a couple further up and in on the core. The guy that 'fixed' it said to put a lower pressure cap on it, but i plan on taking this on some long trips and dont wanna mess around with trying to patch it again. I got a real good price from a friend at advance auto for the one with a/c, so im going to mount that tomorrow and see how it cools. thanks for the input!

Lower-pressure cap is very unwise advice. Local temperature inside the engine, right at the metal, can and will be much higher than at the radiator, and higher than the boiling point of insufficiently-pressurised water-mix coolant. Local boiling can and will occur, even if we can't see it at the radiator. This can cause ping and other problems.
