before i tore the motor apart it was driving with a carter, that someone fixed holes and cracks with some kind of bubble gum. so i woud like to replace it. i got this holley carb off a pretty complete engine sitting in someones own personal junkyard. i am not sure if its missing anything, (seems like it might). if so could you tell me what, and if its worth hunting for, or just buying a rebuilt one. i would like to rebuild this thing my self, but if missing parts becomes an issue. i wouldnt really wanna waste time hunting for parts. but if it looks like im good to go, what rebuild kit would i get for it? this would be for a 1965 plymouth valiant ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Whoah, giant pictures screwing with the page formatting! If you mean to keep them this big, please edit your post to put them one per line, not side-by-side like that. This what you're showing us is a carburetor originally from a 1963 Dart/Valiant with 225 engine. It will fit a '65 fine, but this one is missing its fast-idle cam and the link that connects the choke lever to the fast-idle cam (and the screw that holds the fast-idle cam to the carburetor). You ought to be able to score the missing pieces without too much trouble off any-year Holley 1920; someone on here will have them for you I'm sure. You'll need a new float, Walker #100-14. I like the kit that www.daytonaparts.com sells; it has an inlet needle/seat of an improved, more flood-resistant design. But nobody's kit contains anything like the proper float gauge any more; all you get is a useless little strip of paper ruler, leaving you on your own to try to set the float correctly Carburetor operation and repair manuals and links to training movies and carb repair/modification threads are posted here for free download. |

I don't buy parts store kits any more, of any brand, unless I have zero choice -- quality is through the floor. |
