The shift cable seal is part of the cable so with a new cable you get a new seal, but I do think it is included with most rebuild kits and seal kits so you could check one of those. The kits has information on what years they fit, most common is that they fit "modern" transmissions and then they have an extra add on kit with the parts for older transmissions you can buy, it is possible that the cable seals are in the extra add on kit so it might be enough to just get that. Same with the park cable, now these are just ordinary o-rings so you should be able to find something that fits in any shop that sells o-rings, just make sure you get something that can survive the transmission fluid. The pan gaskets has changed a little over the years, there is a cutout in the rear part on older cable transmissions because of the park cable housing, but any 904 gasket will fit. The interior has changed a number of times over the years, but the big difference is when they dropped the cable shifting in 65/66 and when they changed the input shaft/crank pilot size in 67/68, there are minor changes over the years on the valve body (which also include changes the the shift cable), they removed the rear oil pump ;o( added lockup and so on. Be careful with 60-61 transmissions, there are minor things inside that does not fit later transmissions. Up to 67 the input shaft has 18 splines, 68 and up has 27 spline input shaft. 78 and up lockup transmissions has 26 spline inputs haft. As a last resort if you can't find parts, lookup Pat Blais on ebay (tflite_patty), he knows everything there is to know about 904's and is very helpful if you ask any questions. http://www.imperialservices.net/ manufacture new shift and park cables, not cheap but very good stuff, but don't expect next day delivery, they make them as the orders come in. |

All the seals and parts you need, you can get from Pat Blais, (206) 365-1966. The '60-'64 slant-6 A904s are all interchangeable (plus '65 with some parts swapped), but there are filter differences between '60-'63 and '64-'65. See here for info on pan gaskets and filters. Good luck getting a reply (or your parts once you've paid) from Imperial Services. |
