Hi all

As the title says...

My Slant6 will cut out intermittently when I make a sharp left turn... sometimes if i manage to "catch" it i.e. shift quickly into N and blip the throttle, the engine will rev back up and will drive fine again... until the next left turn that is...

What could have caused this? The fuel level in the tank is more than half and im running the original mechanical fuel pump.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Syed

Remind us what carburetor (exactly) you're running, please, and what its history might be. If it's a Holley 1920, this symptom is indicative of float issues. Float is too heavy because it has absorbed gasoline, float counterspring is missing, or wrong type of inlet needle/seat is installed.

Its a Holley 1920 taken from a running car (a fellow forumer's car) which I and my Father in Law rebuilt using a rebuild kit we ordered from Ebay. Ran "perfect" all this while... until very recently that is.

Yup. You've got float issues. Probably need a new float (available here, probably not there) and you'll want to take a careful look at the float spring and the inlet needle/seat.

I see you're getting similar consensus over on the "other" board, though without specific knowledge of exactly what causes this problem with the 1920. Recent rebuild or no recent rebuild, the problem will probably remain until you open the carburetor and fix it.
