I have the engine and trans in my sons truck but we noticed the end of the throttle cable had been cut off. I am looking for a new replacement cable for this. It is a 1987 D-100 very basic with an A-833 trans. Does anyone have a source for something like this. I do not want a salvage cable and take a chance it will not work properly.

I'm pretty sure you can just go down to Napa and get one.

Thanks ESP47 I did not check NAPA. I know Carquest does not carry it. I did see on Rock Auto a cable but I have to measure the old one to verify length.

Last one I bought was at a Carquest. Been a few years. Hmmm.

I may have the throttle cable dilemma resolved! I used a cable from an 85 Dodge D-350 with a 5.9 and it seems to be working so far. It does have what appears to be a little more length but after comparing to the original one that had been cut it looks to be the correct length. I called NAPA and the shortest one they had was 26+ inches long which definitely would not have worked. The old cable and the one I am now using is 22 1/1 inches long. Total length measured from firewall. Thanks everyone for your help.

make sure you are getting full throttle with the new cable.

It appears I am getting full throttle at this time. After installing throttle and getting clutch bled we tried to start the engine and it would not start long story short the fuel pump went out so I am waiting for pump to arrive this morning. Thinking of doing electric pump!!!...Hmmm!!
