I have the slant six running now and have some questions about timing. My engine specs are as follows:
Clifford 268 Cam kit
Weisco Pro tru Pistons .084 over at 10.5-1 compression

I kinda don't completely know how to set the timing for this cam and compression ratio. My plan was to try stock timing then go from there but if somebody knows better than me about how to figure out a good base line I would greatly appreciate the information.

Thanks,
Jacob

Try 12° initial timing and 30° total mechanical advance. This almost always means shortening the slots in the distributor governor to limit the amount of mechanical advance.

Would you recomend any sort of distributor rather than a stock one for this?

You would have to recurve it, as there are no aftermarket distributors for this. You'll have to buy a spring kit and do trail and error, the better 'performance' distributor is getting a 3874876 late model distributor and respringing that, the slots are short and will work well with the 12 degree initial advance.

I also can refurbish and recurve your distributor for a fee, I would need some information on the car if interested in going that direction.
