as most of you know i have been tangling with my holley 1920 carb and have rebuilt it with new float and all. Then the thing started leaking gas from the front on the carb at the base where the rod comes through it. I have not wanted to spend the money on a new/er carb because i just came back from a 25 day vacation that took me to 7 states 21 cities and 5260 miles so the extra money was not there for a carb.. I have also tossed the idea of a small block in the car but you should be happy i have put that idea to rest and have been offered from a buddy a 1920 holley that all linkage matches and all looks the same except it does not have the vent tube in the front top like my current one does.. So will the carb with out the vent tube work on my car ?? Thanks in advance Don |

Does your car have a Charcoal canister? To my knowledge, only '73 and up carbs had that particular tube. Yes, it will bolt on, the vent tube on top is designed to go to a charcoal canister to keep the gas vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. The older style just had a rubber piece attached to the arm which hangs over the bowl. At idle, this arm should be away from the top of the bowl to let it vent. When you open the throttle, the arm should move down and close the vent. The carb with the tube has the same function, but the valve design is different and there is the tube. ~THOR~ |

Top-front tube is ducted bowl vent. Present on '71-up carbs (plus '70 California carbs). The carb you're being offered is a pre-1971 (pre-'70 California) carb. Is your '70 Dart a California-emissions car? If you're not sure, check the sticker located on the driver side inner fender panel. If that's no longer present, post an accurate transcript of the fender tag (2" x 3" metal tag on the driver side inner fender panel) and we can decode it to tell you the equipment your car was built with. How it was originally built determines what you would need to do to properly adapt an earlier carburetor. If you don't have luck with a who-knows-its-history carburetor, I do have one new correct carb for your application left on shelf. |

Thanks you guys and we have already done the tag and the other numbers off the side of the engine and lip under the head. He car is non California 1970 dart and the engine if memory serves me right is around 67. Not sure if I can afford a new one right now but Dan I forgot how much u were asking for one that you had |

If it's a non-California '70, there'd be nothing to hook the top-front tube to anyhow; go ahead and try out the carb you're being offered and see how it works for you. If it's a pre-1970 carb it won't have a vacuum nipple for the thermostatic air cleaner (with snorkel and flex duct down to sheetmetal shroud around the central collector of the exhaust manifold) standard equipment starting in '70. If you have the plain round 1967 air cleaner, no worries. If you have the thermostatic type, put a fitting in the rearmost intake manifold runner for a vacuum hose to run the air cleaner mechanism, or a tee in the choke pull-off hose. |

well after looking at it more it only has one place for lines to attach to it and its the one on the drivers side of the carb. it dont seem to have the one on the other side for like the distributor and pvc to hook to so i guess thats a no go for now.. |
