| Post subject: | Bonneville Speed Week, Aug 11-17, 2012, Slant to compete |
Slanted speed freaks, Folks might be interested that there will be a Slant Six-powered attempt for a Bonneville Land Speed Record during Speed Week. Bob Dally of Seattle will be campaigning a 1966 Barracuda with 170 power in F Classic Production (FCPRO). FCPRO is for 1949 - 1981 cars, naturally aspirated, gasoline, no aero mods... This is an open record slot, and 2 other competitors are reportedly showing up to go for it also. I have always wanted to go to Bonneville, and decided this would be the year to check it out. I'll be driving my 68 Dart across to the Woodburn, OR Slant 6 race on Aug 11-12, then joining Bob's crew at Bonneville on Monday the 13th. I will most likely leave the Salt Thurs morning the 16th. Anyone else want to join us???? Cheers, Lou |

I'd love to, but it's out of the question for now. One of those trips on my bucket list. Lou, you will be taking your still and video equipment with you, right? Roger |

That's the car I started building BTW. I don't have many details on what's happened with the car, but I'm wishing Bob the best of luck. |

I will try to take some photos yes, and I'm sure Bob and co will. Bob is an admitted newbie to auto racing, but is diving in with both hands, feet, etc, and getting lots of help from knowledgable shops and individuals. Josh, yes, he is doing right by your project. If you don't mind, might I ask you a few questions for Bob about the engine? Cheers, Lou |

BTW, Lou.....on a personal note, I've heard you should not wear shorts at Bonneville. Certain.....ummmm.... parts of the body that don't normally see sunlight will get a sunburn due to reflection off the salt. Drink lots of water, and carry strong sunscreen. A large-brimmed hat might also be advisable. Roger |
