Post subject:  68 Dart whoops on the hwy - fuel pump ground

Well, I had another "uh oh" moment on I94 east of Billings, MT today. The fuel pump was making some funny noises, and my mixture was drifting around. At the crest of a hill, it essentially died and I had to pull over. Of course, it was 100 deg @ 4 PM.

I thought the pump had died, but after pulling it loose from the frame rail, I saw the ground wire (right next to pump) was slightly loose. I tightened it back up and it runs better than it has for a while, especially smoother at idle. The ground must have been intermittent, at least for the last 1-2 days. The pump still makes its whiny noise, but it is stable now, not like a dying duck.

Lesson learned. Need a better ground bolt...

Sounds like you had more fun than you anticipated? Isn't that your favorite kind of event?
at least you had plenty of room to pull off the road.
