has any one tried or does any one know if a g360 5 speed transmission can be used on a slant 6?

the A833od is just to weak for me and I would like to have a fith gear.
I have a np435 in it now, (great transmission), but only goes 1:1.0
tried the a883od, hated it.

so I have the bell for both of these trannies.

Stock 4-speed overdrive transmission ratios (from 1979 manual):
1: 3.09
2: 1.67
3: 1.00
4: 0.71
R: 3.00

Getrag G360 5 Speed Gear Ratios
1: 5.53
2: 3.02
3: 1.60
4: 1.00
5: 0.77
R: 5.03

Unless you have a need for crawling really slow rearward, or forward in first gear, an ordinary overdrive 4-speed transmission should do the job. (even if you hate it!)
