Hello, I am a new guy to this type of engines, and the other day I found what seems to be a vacuum line disconnected but I have crawled underneath, check any open ports on the carburetor or on the intake plenum and I cant figure out where it goes, can someone please help me, the one end is connected underneath the distributor, please see this picture, thank you in advance ![]() ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us[/url] |

If you are talking about the vacuum line connected to the vacuum advance pod at about the 4:00 position as you're looking straight down at the distributor cap, that is the vacuum advance line. The other end goes to the applicable port on the carburetor. If you'll tell us more about your vehicle (year and model would be a good start) we can guide you towards the right port for it to be connected to. You'll want to get the three books described in this thread as quickly as you can. |

Yes SlantsixDan, that is the one. thank you for the reply, it is a 71 dodge swinger with the slant 225 |

That line connects to the carburetor's spark advance port. The original carburetor on your car would have been a Holley 1920 -- perhaps that kind of carburetor is still installed. It has a rectangular bowl on the front of the carburetor with the word "HOLLEY" cast into it. The spark advance port is the one at the base of the carburetor with an "elbow" in it. Carburetor operation and repair manuals and links to training movies and carb repair/modification threads are posted here for free download. Tune-up parts and technique suggestions in this thread. And do get those three books in a hurry. |
