well im just about ready for first start up what oil should i use, tappets cold 12,22. after it starts what rpm should i hold it to and for how long ect ect whats the procedure thanks |

Lots... use Diesel oil (has higher zinc content) then run engine up to about 2000 rpm for about 20 minutes, don't let it idle. (this gets oil moving over the cam lobes) Important not to let it get hot (use a big fan in front of car). If you hear anything that sounds wrong coming from engine, see leaks or if oil pressure goes way down -- Shut it OFF & resolve. Richard |
