what is the difference of these engine is there a perfomance gain to use the block or rods, crank...ect? Kijiji Ontario > Toronto (GTA) > Markham / York Region > cars & vehicles > auto parts, tires > engine, engine parts > Ad ID 403787791 |

Block, crank, rods, etc. are all same as passenger car engine. Differences are in bolt-ons (manifolds, distributor, carburetor, accessories) for marine usage. Looks as if the one you found is offered at an unrealistically high price, but I don't know the market -- perhaps the demand is there. |

yes it is a high price don't think there is a big demand hear most boats here are v6/v8 chevy/ford's |

Yep, when I was working at a C-P dealer in '64, our service department was informed by Chrysler that a couple hundred marine cranks for small blocks had gotten into the car production line. Apparently there was a different knurling pattern in the seal area, and when the cranks rotated in the normal car direction, they pulled oil past the seal instead of pushing it back. The service department was told to look for that if they had a car with excessive leakage past the seal. FWIW, I'm told the reverse rotation engines were used in twin engined boats, and that it was done to reduce the torque effects. |
