The A833 and A833OD came in two lengths. If both transmissions are short or both are long the driveshaft length should be alright. A-body A833s for '66-'67 have small mainshaft splines and output yokes like the A904. Some A833OD transmissions also have small output yokes, but most are large spline like the A727.

I put a standard A833 in my '66 Dart in place of the OD unit I had oruginally installed when I ditched the automatic. I made a spacer ring to properly center the 4.80" input bearing retainer in the 5.125" hole of the OD bellhousing. Everything else except the 3-4 shift lever bolted right up.

Pretty much everything you need to know about the variances in the 833s is in this article:

There are only two lengths for the trans, and using the wrong one for your car will cause problems with the shifter linkages, etc. as well as the driveshaft length.

There are three different size input bearing retainers (on the front of the trans.), and therefore three different bellhousings to go with them. The o/d bellhousing will not fit a non-o/d trans, with the possible exception of a custom milled adapter ring. I considered trying this out, but ended up just rebuilding my o/d box.

More details on both topics at the above link.

The other option here is to find a 1975-1980-ish car with a 3spd manual tranny, they use a bearing retainer that is the 5.125" OD which fits the OD bellhousing...but the bolt pattern fits all the 3spd cases and the A-833 standard/direct transmission. They do pop up sometimes on Passon's or Brewer's but are in the $80 range...
