Hi, I found a marine distributor. # on casting is 2642507 13 8 Has a R9.5 regulator and looks like a vacuum advance pod will bolt on in place of the block off plate. I have a new points plate for it. Will it make a good candidate for a recurve distributor project? It does not have the heavy secondary spring on the weights, instead they (springs) look to be both the same and already under a little tension. The distributor doesnt have any play in it, just needs a good cleaning. Bonus= got new made in USA cap and rotor with it. Thanks for the insight! |

Points-type distributors are not worth messing with. Start with an electronic unit. |

Thanks Dan. Its just an excercise to see if I can eliminate the detonation that I have. I am able to run a bit more initial timing, now that I have installed points and removed the pertronixs, but still have to dial out some mechanical advance. Hopefully the r9.5 regulator will help. |
