I am assuming your car and engine are stock. I wouldn't worry about it.

It is amazing how much abuse the stock oil filled coils can take. SL6Dan can quote life expectancy. Dan is our electrical specialist.....however, keeping the coil cooler goes along way to extending their life. I moved mine up to the fender away from the heat of the block to provide better cooling and longevity. I ran the stock coil that way for years before trying a HEI style coil.

If you have bypassed your ballast and feeding a stock coil a full 12 volts.....that will make them run pretty toasty! You need to keep the ballast in the circuit unless you run a 3 ohm coil, or have done the HEI conversion, then full voltage is fine.
