So we got my slant out of mothballs (see link below) and I'm starting to get things cleaned up and ready for another shot at starting.

It appears that the vacuum advance hose will not (refuses) to stay on the nipple at the vacuum can on the distributor. It fits real snug on the carb side (I double checked and it is connected to the correct port). There does not appear to be any visible damage on that end of the hose. How is that hose supposed to fit on the vacuum can nipple? Just pushed on nice and snug? I have no idea how long it's been like that (the car's been sitting for over six years).

On another note, we were unable to get the car running on the first try last Friday. I got a full charge on the battery and I"m starting to look for the cause of it not starting (she turns over but will not start). Thanks.
Great to be back!

It should fit snugly. They stretch over time. Fetch a scissors, chop 1/2" off the distributor end of the hose, and try again.
