I have a small corrosion leak near where the water pump hose hooks up to the bottom of the radiator it only leaks after i drive it and leaks at quite a rapid pace leaving a large puddle. is this beyond repair or will some JB weild or somthing take care of it any recomondations. or am I going to have to look for a new radiator. |

Be sure it is not that the radiator hose outlet has a cracked solder joint or a bad hose. For any epoxy product to work, the surface must be clean and dry, like in shinny bare metal. Good epoxy takes hours to dry / cure. High heat is not good for epoxy over the long haul. My though is that for all this trouble, may as well pull the radiator and have a shop boil it out & repair it. DD |

My Local man was going to charge around $75.00 more to repair my leak then the cost to have a 3 core built, gives one something to think about as my leak was also minor, also has been my experience that some auto parts places pierce the bottom radiator hose with a nylon loop to hang on the wall thereby producing two small pin holes in the hose right near the outlet which gave the appearance of a bottom tank leak, so would be good idea to inspect hoses before purchase. As far as the "liquid Steele" approach my only use has been on the overflow nipple which had a defective solder joint and i'm too lazy to solder it correctly this has worked well..My 2 cents is to do it right the first time. |
