Hi all,

I feel like I'm currently sitting on a toilet bowl when driving around in my '66 Dart wagon. It has a bench up front, and I would like to replace it.
Do I have to find another Dart to take it off of, or can I look for other older A-bodies as donors?

Thanks, Mike

an A-body is an A-body for example i pit a '72 dart swinger seat in my dads 383 duster it fit like a glove id just keep the body style/ year in the same area like 64-66 and you should be fine

Your seat's springs and foam are pshot. You can have the seat rebuilt; see here. Another old bench seat will likely be in similar condition to your existing old bench seat. You may want to consider updating the seating comfort and safety of the car by installing Chrysler Sebring seats which have inbuilt 3-point seat belts. They can be reupholstered to match your car's interior, if you wish. There's a good how-to on this swap (which requires not just the seats but also their electric control module) here.

It is not correct that "an A-body is an A-body". The pre-'67 A-bodies are narrower than the '67-up A-bodies, for example. You can adapt a lot of different seats not originally from a '63-'66 A-body, but a direct toss-in swap they are not.

I have a green bench seat you can have for free if you want to pick it up. It has high back rests and is out of a 73 Valiant. The vinyl is surprisingly nice for being as old as it is.
