Post subject:  Fail Safe Thermostat

Any thoughts on the Murray Fail Safe Thermostats.The 180 degree Stat.......?

Thermostats seldom fail. It's more important to get a good quality thermostat that does the best possible job of regulating minimum engine temperature than to worry about something that will probably not happen. Use a Stant SuperStat 45358.

Thanks Dan........I'll do that. My statis fairly new. It is the one you recommend, however after running it a while I noticed it quit going past a certain temp and dropping back down. Now it heats up to 180 and then over a period of time it gets warmer not overheating but definitely warmer. Is this a problem?

Warmer is better for power and economy as long as you aren't overheating. If you're cruising down the road doing 50mph on a cool day and your car is running as hot as you'd want to see it, then you're probably going to want to take a look at it. If you're running as hot as possible there, you're definitely going to overheat if you're sitting still in traffic in 95* weather.
