Post subject: | Dyno Tuning |
Taking my 62 valiant to the dyno tomorrow, the owner of this particular establishment is a guru and knows what his doing so I guess I trust the bloke. Basicly im taking the car there to make sure its running 99.9 per cent and to get some horse power figures. Now what I'm asking is what do I need to look out for when taking a car to the dyno? a) Dynoing a hyper pak slant, anything I need to be concerned about? b) How much time should it take? (so I dont get ripped) c) And basicly anything that pops to mind about bringing a car to the dyno, I've never done this before. I've installed new plugs, Oil change and filter, air filter. Thanks. |

1. Make sure he knows it's a Slant and doesn't try to rev it to the moon. (Good operator will watch the numbers and know when the motor is done) 2. Make sure you know what you are and are not paying for. Dyno time is usually just that, and tuning time will be usually extra. He may charge by the number of pulls, you will usually get 3 for an hour's dyno time. 3. Make sure when they strap it down none of the straps are against the exhaust or where they will damage anything on the car. 4. Remember that you will be getting rear wheel horsepower, not crank. Don't be discouraged if the numbers seem low. Your numbers will be more of a reflection of the dyno program and operator honesty than anything else. 5. If something lets go on the car YOU will be responsible, just the same as if your were drag racing, road racing, etc.. 6. Have fun with it. ![]() |
