Does any one know what size socket I need for the four big bolts holding the k-frame in place. I plan to pull it out and start on front suspension and brake mods. |

I could swear it was 15/16" for the wrench...but... Cheap insurance: Drill 1/8" hole about 1-2" off bottom of frame rail, centerline of each K-member bolt. Use PB blaster with straw and hose down the frame nut and K-bolt with a squirt once day for a few days...Should make pulling the bolts a bit easier...I've done it the hard way and if you seize the bolt captured nut inside the frame rail will soon follow while using the breaker bar...does not make for any repair welding fun later...Reinstall with Anti-Seize if you think you might swap it out again in the future. -D.Idiot |

Thanks DI for the tip on drilling the holes and spraying down the bolts. Being an Arizona car all it's life there is little rust on the car and I have been very lucky on not having to many stuck bolts but those big suckers needed some lube to come out of there. FYI the bolts holding the K-frame in place on my 64 Valiant required a 1 1/16 socket. I wasn't sure if I had a socket to do the job so I stopped a harbor freight and picked up a set of deep impact sockets 3/8-1 1/2. So I was able to get the job done. |
