Post subject:  carb adjustment?

I have finally got her back on the road after a ton of carb and shift linkage problems. Now she is stalling when putting car into drive and also when coming to a stop sign. Any suggestions? I have turned the idle up and still the same problem. It has a NEW Holley 2280 on it. New fuel Pump also.

It should be hooked to the port to the left of the left idle mixure screw. Not to the port between the left and right idle mixture screws.

Um...no. That won't do. If you don't have the proper tool for the job, get it. If you can't or won't get it, get someone else to set the timing. Someone who knows what the hell he's doing, which means using the correct tool for the job (timing light).

Carburetor operation and repair manuals and links to training movies and carb repair/modification threads are posted here for free download.

As quickly as you can, get the three books described in this thread and start reading. Yes, I am being serious!

Great. I will buy the other two books.
The distributor vacuum advance hose is too big for the port to the left of the idle screws? Can I bridge the two hoses and clamp them together? Do I plug the port between the Idle screws?
I will buy a timing light a.s.a.p

Then install the correct-diameter hose. Right now you've got the vacuum advance hose hooked to the evaporative emission canister purge port -- that's no good!

No.

Yes.
