It's a stock probably original pcv valve on my 1970 225, Do I have to romove the valve cover to get the pcv valve out or does it pop out somehow? It was running crappy today and when I limped it into work and popped the hood it would appear the pcv valve fell in half and the hose was just flopping around with half the pcv valve still in it.

Got it no prob, but dang if I cant get it running smooth now. I rebuilt the carb and did all the adjustments according to the kit directions but I am having a hard time finding a medium between idling in park or nuetral and getting to stay alive when in drive. I even double checked the nice 1920 carb manual on this site and my measurements are good. How ever there was no spring in the carb between the excelerater pump and the pump diaphram and there wasnt one in the kit to replace, did some of these 1920's carbs not have that spring? I'll check the manual again and make sure of the springs name encase my wacked terms arent correct. Ok page 14 in the manual for the holley 1920 shows it installed and compressed, it's called the diaphram return spring.

You do need that spring. It doesn't come in the carb kit because it usually doesn't wear out, break, or go missing.

Thanks again Dan, I'm guessing thats why it's got me going nuts running different all the time,and is very picky on how you accelerate. So a wrecking yard maybe or is it somthing that may be found at a parts store you think? I was very carefull pulling it apart over a white towel encase somthing fell apart and it deffinatly wasnt in there but it's alway ran weird since I owned it.

You engine won’t run or idle properly without the PCV installed, and connected to carburetor. If you have left the PCV off in essence creating a big vacuum leak, or caped the PCV valve tap on carburetor causing a rich condition the engine will not run right in either scenario.

Oh no I got the pcv valve taken care of ok, but that diaphram return spring appears to be the problem now. When I rebuilt the carb it was very clean and the gaskets didnt even tear apart to badly like maybe it was rebuilt not long ago but that spring wasnt installed or was lost by the last guy.
