As the heading says, where are the Oil passages to the head?

As near as I can tell from searching, is that the oil travels up around as least the rear most lower cylinder head bolt and and then through the rocker shaft, is that right? Should there be oil in any of the other cylinder head bolt holes? It seems I have oil in both the two rear most bolt holes as well as the second from the front. All three of which are the "lower" bolts located next to the push rod gallery.

It is a solid lifter motor (been swapped out), so no holes through the push rods, right?

Any tips on how to get to the passages to make sure they are clear?

This is a hydraulic lifter slant, but the oil passages are the same as on a mechanical lifter slant:

Oil travels up a gallery on the back of the block from the rear cam journal, into a small passage in the back of the head, and then to a small chamber underneath the rearmost rocker shaft bolt. The oil then travels up into the rocker shaft, out the holes in the rocker shaft and into the rocker arms, then (on a mechanical lifter motor) out the passage on the tips of the rocker arms, onto the valve stem, then the oil runs down into the lifter gallery and from there back into the oil pan. The only major difference between the oiling systems in a hydraulic lifter and mechanical lifter slant six is on the hydraulic lifter slant the oil also travels to a hole on the pushrod side of the rocker arms, down the hollow pushrods, and into the hydraulic lifters.

Only way to clean the passages is to (a) get the head and block hot tanked and/or (b) pull the head and block and run a pipe cleaner through the passages.

Thanks for the quick reply!

The head is off and I just went out and looked and can see that the passage from the rear rocker shaft bolt hole is drilled into the rear most head bolt hole in the head, so oil in that hole is normal. I wonder about the other two ....?

Maybe I am misunderstanding you, but I don't believe the oil passage in the head is supposed to go into any of the cylinder head bolt holes. The oil passage in the head should only go to the rearmost rocker shaft bolt hole.

I’m going to guess when removing a few of the rocker shaft bolts excess oil in it filled several of the bolt holes.
