Converting to Dual Master Cylinder. I bought the conversion line kit from http://www.inlinetube.com/that has the (2) lines to M/C and the new junction block. I took the rear brakeline loose with no problem(from under the car), I have the engine out, so I can stand in the engine bay and get right to the (2) front brakelines. NOTHING WORKS. I soaked them down for the last couple of days with penetrating oils, rounded both of them off with a flare wrench, destroyed them with vise-grips, and they won't budge! I had previously replaced the hoses and had no problem with that end of the line. If I had hair, I'd pull it out! I just tried heating the junction(brass), but that didn't help either. Thanks for listening. |

Next time when brake lines resist your advances just cut the line off at the fitting, slide a six sided socket over it, and with breaker bar it will come loose. This is a way of life here in the rust bucket infested New England dealing with this crap. If you need to replace the distribution block look here. |

AMAZING! These Bad Boys did the job! I got both lines off, alittle chewed up, but off! I always considered the Craftsman Autolocks as a cheap ViseGrip knock-off, but they came through today! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Great to hear!! My secret to getting lines and fittings off: First I spray them with PB blast. THen, I clamp a good pair of vice grips on the fitting, then I tighten it just a touch.......then loosen it.Back and forth it a couple times if I have too. Works about every time.Tomorrow I am replacing the distribution block on my barracuda, and putting in the proportion valve. Hope the rest of your job goes well!! |
